Phyllis Warmack Snyder
has always enjoyed creating whether it be landscaping, flower arranging, decorating, sewing, drawing, or painting. The highlight of her 28 year career of teaching elementary math was writing, illustrating, and copyrighting a math series consisting of eight books entitled The Mathematics Gang Series which made learning the basic math concepts and facts fun and memorable for her elementary students.
Her first success in art was winning an AAA safety poster contest in the third grade in her hometown of Ada, Oklahoma. She painted portraits of friends in high school and dreamed of pursuing oils and portraits. She studied under Alexander Hogue and Brad Place at the University of Tulsa while attending college there.
Of course, her teaching career and raising her family took precedence for many years, but she now has the time to pursue her life long dream of oil painting and portrait drawing and painting. Her introduction to oil painting was with Nancy Hill and portrait drawing with Mary Ann Fraizer, both of Tulsa.
