Nancy Harkins
excelled in drawing and painting as a young child, and at sixteen was accepting portrait commissions from classmates and teachers. Watercolor soon became her favorite medium.
Strong value contrasts and patterns of light and shadow in Nancy's landscapes and architectural subjects have won her awards in numerous exhibitions. That same drama is captured in her nearly 100 botanical iris paintings, two of which have been published in the book, The Best of Flower Painting. The American Iris Society also chose her designs for their first commemorative poster and for a new medal. In addition to mounting seven one-person shows, she has shown her work at Tulsa's Gilcrease Museum as part of their "About Face" portrait exhibit and in their "American Art in Miniature" show. She also participates annually in the Utica Square "Art in the Square" event and in the Mayfest Invitational Gallery, both held in Tulsa.
Nancy's watercolors are included in several corporate collections and her pencil drawings are featured in two books, Seasons of Life and Seasons of Love.
