Margaret Aycock
is an Impressionist oil painter known for her Impressionistic portraits, delicate pastel floral still lifes, Oklahoma landscapes and exciting. bright groupings of bathing suited beach figures. She is a plein air painter who works from life painting portraits and landscapes.
She has been painting for over 25 years and has studied under such fine artists as John Szekes, Virginia Jarboe, Hugh Wakinshaw, Xaing Xaing, and Jonnie Lihlidahl. Margaret currently teaches adult oil painting lessons in Tulsa. She works with the Tulsa Arts and Humanities Council’s Artist in the Schools program and has an artist residency at Hillcrest Hospital’s Kaiser Rehab.
Margaret has participated in many juried shows over the years. In 1997 she won second place in a show juried by the Editor-in-Chief of American Artist magazine. In 1995,she won best painting in the Oklahoma Women in the Arts Show. Her work has been featured every year since, in Tulsa’s International Mayfest Invitational Gallery. Her painting, "Nutcracker", was chosen for The National Wachovia Bank’s holiday card in 1999. Carpentree Company purchased publishing rights to two of her pieces in 2004 for mass production for their client, Mardel Christian and Educational Supply.
