We are happy to announce our own artist's gallery in the beautiful Tulsa Historical Society museum!

The Tulsa Historical Society has given us our own small gallery in the museum.  The paintings from the Notable Tulsans series will hang there in the Whiteside Portrait Painter's managed space.

The gallery is open during museum hours Tuesday through Saturday from 10 AM until 4 PM -- and the show will change every two months.

Fun & Excitement for Whiteside Portrait Painters . . . .

Whiteside Portrait Painters is an informal collection of artists who meet on Tuesdays at Whiteside Recreation Center to draw or paint a live model.

Recently, Pat Vestal, a member of the group
, made arrangements with Joan Hauger, manager of the “Painting Tulsa Personalities” project, to hold a portrait model session at the Travis Mansion, home of the Tulsa Historical Society. Ms. Tracy Letts was the first subject and as a result of that session, came a series of paintings of notable Tulsans.  See examples from the current Historical Society show by clicking on the Current THS Exhibit page of the main menu.  You can see other examples of the Whiteside artists’ work here at www.portraitpainterswest.com and, in the future, at Tulsa Historical Society's Whiteside portrait room.

If you are considering commissioning a portrait of pet, parent or pal, now is the time to contact your favorite artist.  Just click on their name above, then click their contact e-mail address.

  • We work in all media:  oil, watercolor, charcoal, graphite, pencil, colored pencils -- on archivally-safe canvas, paper and boards.  And we can work from photographs or live sittings.   We give you many styles to select from when choosing your portraiture: caricatures to impressionist to stylized to traditional to elegant.  Whichever you prefer, you will find our expertise, attention to detail and finished work excellent -- and probably at a lot less than you would expect to pay for a commissioned  portrait.

  • We are a diverse group of artists who meet each Tuesday at Whiteside Center  to  paint live models, share ideas and hone our skills.

    • Some of our artists paint just for the fun of it, so we hope you'll browse our web site and enjoy the sights!  Most are actively involved in the fine arts in our community and beyond.   Whiteside Portrait Painters West is a congenial group that welcomes newcomers!

Would you like to be our model any given Tuesday from 11 AM until 2:30 PM?  We pay our models (children through adults) $8 an hour for sitting (more if wearing a costume.)  Here's how it works!  After positioning and lighting set-up, starting at 11:15, we paint the sitter for 20 minutes, then we break for 10 minutes and repeat that cycle until the three hours are up at 2:15.  If you would like to be our model one Tuesday, e-mail us with dates when you might be free (and be sure to give us your name, e-mail address, phone number and best time to call.  Contact us!
