Fran Mower
vividly expresses her art by giving vibrant life to portraits, landscapes, and still lifes in both pastel and oil. She is a signature member of the Pastel Society of the Southwest and, in 2000, was one of a group of local portrait artists invited to show at Tulsa's Gilcrease Museum. In 2005, she was the featured artist for the 16th Annual Oklahoma Heart Update in Cardiology. As a portrait artist, she sees what a camera cannot in order to capture the beauty or spirit that lies within the model and brings it to life on the canvas. Many of her landscapes are refinements of field sketches she has made during her travels from New York to California and from Brazil to Canada. Her work, which combines a unique sense of composition and style, has been exhibited in a number of competitive art shows. In many of these juried shows, both regional and national, Fran has won various awards.
